Flexible and Semi Rigid Ducting
Pacific Air has two types of ducting - expandable aluminium semi rigid duct and aluminium foil flexible duct. Both are versatile and can be used for multiple ventilation and flueing applications. Both are non-insulated duct. The choice of which type of duct used usually comes down to specification and personal preference. Both types of duct are 4-zero fire rated to Australian Standard AS1530.3 and comply with AS1668.1 if installed correctly
Aluminium Semi Rigid Duct
Pacific Air Semi Rigid Duct performs has superior performance due to its unique construction. Our innovative design with low profile ribbing ensures for less restrictive air flow and more efficient ducting than other brands of semi rigid duct.
Expandable aluminium semi rigid duct comes in many diameter sizes - from 60mm up to 350mm. All are in three metre lengths and are constructed from 0.1mm aluminium sheeting. The main benefit of this type of duct over foil duct is that it holds its shape so allows for more unimpeded air flow and is hence more efficient. It is regularly used in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. 125mm and 150mm are commonly used in rangehood venting and general ventilation.
This is the duct that is included in our rangehood flue kits. This flue duct is temperature rated from -20C to 150C. Duct is shrink wrapped for protection prior to installation. When lengthening this duct, we recommend that you extend it gently from the middle and work in an outwards direction. 100mm duct is usually used in clothes dryer venting. Cut excess duct off using appropriate tin snips or shears.
Flexible Aluminium Foil Duct
Flexible aluminium foil duct currently is available in 3 different diameters - 125mm, 150mm and 200mm, and are in 3 metre lengths. This duct is constructed from two sheets of aluminium foil, adhered to each other by quality Australian-made adhesive. Duct is 4-zero fire rated and is also temperature rated up to 130C. This duct is used regularly in kitchens, bathrooms and for clothes dryer venting. The big advantage of foil duct is that it is quick and easy to use. Sometimes when space is tight, it may be the only option. Again, trim off any excess duct to increase ducting efficiency. Tin snips or even standard pair of pliers will do this job in seconds.
Need More Length?
If you need additional lengths of duct, we suggest that you connect them together with our range of duct connectors and use steel worm clamps and/or duct tape on the joins.
